Igniting a Storm of Passion

The TIV-2

The Tornado Intercept Vehicle 2 (TIV2) started as a Dodge Ram 3500 and was modified by IMAX filmmaker Sean Casey for the 2008-2011 seasons of Storm Chasers. It intercepted several tornadoes, including an EF-4 in Mississippi (2011) and an EF-3 in Kansas (2013). After the show ended, TIV2 fell into disrepair. In 2019, Casey sold it to storm chaser Ryan Shepard, a former Storm Chasers crew member and TIV driver, trusting him and his company, Storm of Passion LLC, to continue its legacy.

Building a Team

Over more than five years of ownership, Ryan Shepard has assembled a team of nine dedicated volunteers, each bringing unique skills, to help preserve a piece of storm-chasing history and keep it on the road. The team operates from the late season of April through into the early season of June.
